CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS REUNION - 1908

Confederate veterans lined up near the Leola Methodist Church during this reunion in 1908.
Note the Confederate flag and tents. A brass band fills a wagon at the church entrance.

On August 27-29 1908, a Confederate reunion was held in the town of Leola Arkansas(Grant County). The population was doubled as a result of this event. Tents were put up all over the town and the Confederate flag was raised to the top of a pole. Photographs were taken as a roll call was made. Some of the veterans visited the Jenkins' Ferry Battlefield a short distance north of Leola.

This list of  the men attending the Reunion is as it appeared in the September 3, 1908, Leola Gazette. This list may be used only for non-commercial uses, and is reprinted with permission from "Our Timberland Home", by Elwin Goolsby.
