the Beddington's mentioned in various documents of the Spartanburg area.

2.  She was from Spartanburg.

3.  Was told this name was on a list of the most common misspelled names.

Bedington, Beddington, Bendington, Bettenton, to name a few.

4.  There is a deed for, Thomas Beddington, Spartanburg:

""Spartanburg Deed Abstracts Book B Page 37

NOTE:  We know Robert White Sr. had property on the Tiger River, 1788, he also sold land he
had along Cane Crk, but I believe this Crk was in Laurens Co.  There was another Cane
Creek, in Union near the Tiger and Broad river, eastern side of Union.

6.  The 1790 Spartanburg census mentions has a James & Thomas Bettenton:

1790 Spartanburg Co SC Census page 87 ancestry image page 4

Thomas Bettenton (index is Beddenton)  1 0 4 0 0
James   Beddenton                                1 0 4 0 0

Note:
Each has 4 females in their respective families, bet Nancy Bedington is in one of them...
The spelling of Bettenton, Beddenton, is an example of the 'creativity' of the census takers.
