There is an error in information on the Golightlly-Dean House in that David Sr. and David Jr. have been confused.  In large part it is because the architects that filled out the application were confused by the uncle David and the nephew David.

The house belonged to David Jr. not David Sr.  David Jr. was the son of William; David Sr. was the brother of William.  The property was sold by David Jr. when David Jr. and Nancy Golightly,

Henry Ogburne and Martha White Golightly all moved Cherokee Co. AL.

The house was left to David Jr. when his mother Amey (widow of William) died in 1812 and was sold December 1836 (filed in Feb.1837).  It was Thurza's father who owned the house; she would have left that house when she married B. F. White.

You can see how confused it was on the application at: http://www.nationalregister.sc.gov/spartanburg/S10817742038/index.htm

They muddied the waters with reference to Rev. David Golightly who was David Sr. They were, of course, more interested in the architecture than accurate history and may not have even realized that there were two Davids.

Below is the original note
from information understood
to be correct, before the error was
discovered, as to who owned the David
Golightly House above. Thanks to Mr
Lee Jacobson for providing us with the
correct information and understanding...

"This is a picture of the Rev. David Golighlty Sr's house, It is on Road 56 between Spartanburg and Pauline, South Carolina."

The Rev. was a great uncle of our Thurza Golightly, her
grandfather, William's, brother.

The house was built about 1830. The current owners have done extensive renovation according to Betty.

Rev. D Golightly's old home is now on the National Register, of Historical places.
