Ephraim Lewis (Spartanburgh) to grandson Ephraim Lewis, son of Alijah Lewis (same); for love and affection give a brown mare and sorrel horse colt, a white and red spotted cow and her calf "of male kind" red with white face; following added: a brown mare with glass eyes called "about 9 years old" with large star on her forehead and 4 white feet, a horse colt with glass eye, a large blaze down "her" face bright sorrel colour with 3 white feet about 3 months old, a cow chiefly white with red spots about 4 years old, calf stear red with white face. ELIJAH FOWLER, William Hughey, and James Copeland, made oath that they were present at Henry Dodd's store in Spartanburgh Dist, and that John Hughey and Elijah Sexton did engage in a fight and that John Hughey's ear was bit off by Elijah Sexton, John Hughey known by witness for a long time and he always conducted himself as an honest, good and upright citizen. SPARTANBURG DEEDS: BOOK V PAGE 180 - 11 Feb 1831:

Jesse Mabry (Spartanburgh Dist) on 26 Dec 1929 executed a deed of gift to my son Daniel F. Mabry to a certain tract of land in Spartanburgh Dist. on both sides of Lawsons fork, containing 500 acres more of less, wherein I omitted to insert any consideration, for remedy whereof I am now about to execute another deed of gift for the same tract of land. In consideration of the natural love and affection I have towards my son Daniel F. Mabry and for $1 paid by said Daniel F. Mabry, I have given the above mentioned tract composed of two tracts adjoining each other and adjoining lands of Edmond L. Bishop and lands formally owned by Joseph Lewis and Ephraim Lewis, the same being land whereon George Lewis late of Spartanburgh Dist. dec. formally lived, containing a Grist & Saw Mill know by the name of Lewis Mills.  Except on half of the income of the Grist and Saw Mill durning my life time, and at my death the whole right vested in my said son Daniel F. Mavrick (W), Richard Thomson (all other sides).  It is agreed that if the above Job Sosebee shall pay $50 with interest from the date of a note due on 25 Dec 1938, then the above property granted shall cease.
