4)  Robert White Jr, Friend to the Deceased, Miss Peggy Underwood, member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church, Spartanburg SC, is mentioned in her death notice. Notice surnames of Cooper, Golightly (Robert Jr wife was a Golightly)

Issue of April 14, 1870

Marriages & Deaths, Baptist Newspapers, SC, 1866-1887
About the first of March, Miss Peggy Underwood, as she was familiarly called by her friends and associates, was seized with a violent attack of pneumonia which terminated her mortal existence.... She had been a member of the Baptist church at Cedar Springs, Spartanburg county for at least thirty years. She was a daughter of William Underwood Sr., who served as a deacon in that church to the day of his death, being, I suppose, nearly eighty years of age. William Underwood and his associate in the deaconship, William Lancaster "seemed to be pillows in the church," more than half a century ago . Lancaster died in 1814 and after that time underwood was associated in his office with some younger men: David Golightly, Thomas Cooper, and Robert White.... Friend. Goudeysville, Union Co., March 31, 1870.

5)  A Family Researcher Mrs. Coppage made this posting in 1980
Thought it would be interesting to note how long our family researchers have been on Robert Sr's trail.

As a footnote, Mrs. Coppage turned 90 years young! in the Fall of 1999, Mrs. Pat Boone, who reminded me of this, sent the 1856 edition of Benjamin Franklin White's, book, Sacred Harps, to Mrs. Coppage, as a gift, she had been trying to give this unique book to a descendant of Ben's lineage, and the daughter of Mrs. Coppage had responded.

Robert White who died 21 Nov. 1843 at 100 years of age, buried in Padgett Creek Baptist Cemetery, Union, S.C. Also maiden name of wife, Elizabeth, who died 27 Dec. 1840. Was she his only wife? Robert's obituary says he served six years in Revolution. Need proof.
