Notes from Mike:

This deed may be the earliest of our Robert White Sr.

Robt. & Milly were Received at the Padgetts in October 1788.

Below the 1795 sale of this same land is verification that indeed
this above deed is our Robert White, as in 1795 Robt & Milly both
sign that indenture.

HUGH MEANS Justice:  In 1812 Benjamin Franklin White youngest
son of Robert Sr, at 12 years old, joined the 1st SC Militia under
the command of Col Hugh Means, serving until wars end as a Fife.

Abstract Deed Only:  Thomas White to Robert White (1803)

Not sure this is our Robert but we are related to Breed's, these White's may be related?

Deed Book H:
Page 203  -  Tape No. C2206 Year 1803

Robert White of Union District for $150 to Thomas White of
same, part of a tract granted to Avery Breed, 49 acres
being part of a tract granted to said Robert White... 13 Dec 1803.
Robert White  Wit: Alexander White, Henry White. Proved in
Union District by the oath of Alexander White 10 Jan 1804 before
Hugh Mean, J. P. Recorded 23 Jan 1805.

Notes from Mike White:
Avery Breed was the son of Rev Joseph Breed & Pricilla Avery.
they once lived in Union Co SC, Avery moved with the Howard's
to Barren Co KY about 1800, he died there Mar of 1801. This
lineage is related to Robert White Sr via his son Elias White's
marriage to Anne Gibbs, then her mother Sarah Howard wife of
Zachariah Gibbs, Sarah's dad, Rev Obediah Howard, his wife
Pricilla Avery Breed was the sister of Avery Breed mentioned in
the Deed above.

Alexander White not sure of his connection.

Henry White (Col in Rev War), lived in Union a time before moving
next door to Spartanburg with his large family.  His son John Warren White,
married Agatha Gibbs, the AUNT of our Anne Gibbs White, wife of Elias.

Justice of Peace Hugh Means:
Benjamin Franklin White, son of our Robert Sr, was a Fife in the War of
1812, at 12 yrs of age to 15yrs of age.  He was recruited as a fife by
Hugh Means and Elijah Dawkins, and discussed terms with Robert Sr,
for the youngster, BF White. 1st SC Militia under Col Hugh Means.

Thus, everyone knew each other in the deed, or eventually...
And again this may not be our Robert White Sr.

Deed - Robert White to Charles (Charter?) Nichols - Laurens County SC (1814)

(This land may have been purchased when Laurens Co was old 96th District, these records were kept in old
Abbeville District, those records were destroyed in Courthouse Fires in Nov. 1874 & another in Jan.
1875)
however, the Probate and Equity records survived.

Same Copy of the Above smaller version

Important Deed - This may be land Inherited Milly Whitehead White, Robert's Wife,
she died in 1807, Robert sells this land in 1814, with son Wm & son-in-law Lewis Rhodes as Witness.

This Land may have been purchased on Cain Creek before Laurens became a county, that is, it was still
old 96th District, all of 96th's records were kept in Abbeville District at that time, a court house fire in
1874 and again in 1875, destroyed ALL of 96th Districts Record, except Probate and some other court
records. So, we may never find a Deed of Purchase for this land either by William Whitehead or Robert
White. However, Wm's Will stipulated that when 2nd wife Margaret remarried or died, the Estate would
be distributed among the Heirs, since Milly died in 1807, that would leave Robert White as her Heir.

NOTES FROM MIKE:

Charles (Charter) Nickles (Nichols) was the Estate Admin, of William
Whitehead. There is no record Robert White buying this land on Cain Creek.
Wm's Will stipulated that when 2nd wife Margaret, remarried or died,
the Estate would then be distributed to all of his Children. Milly died
1807, thus, Robert White became the rightful Heir of Milly.

In my opinion, this 195 acres was part of Wm Whitehead's estate, as
his lands were on Cain Creek.

It appears that 2nd wife Margaret, remarried or died about 1813/14,
and this is the land Robert sold to Wm Whitehead's administrator,
Charter Nickles (Nichols).  I am hopeful to find an entry into the
estate papers that will document this transaction.

If the land was part of Inheritance or Gift to Robert White, those types
of transactions, many time were not recorded, however, one still had
to pay property Taxes on any lands they owned.

Notes from Mike:

This deed shows Robert White Sr with his 2nd wife Elizabeth,

Wm in the area that died the same year (1829), as Robt's son Wm.

Bird Murphy - Robert White Sr is related via his daughter's Susan
marriage to Sion Murphy III.

This sell may be when Robert White Sr moved from the Tigar River,
up closer to Fairforest Creek, as he was in attendance at the Lower
Fairforest Baptist from 1809 to 1829.  And closer to his children.
Son Stephen White was leaving for GA with his wifes family about
this time, Robert Jr moved to Spartanburg 1819. Robert Sr was 76 yrs
old, I would suspect his farming days were coming to an  end.

Recorded 6 April 1829

Notes from Mike:     (Those involved in the above deed)

Johnson Coggin of course was the husband of Jane White, daughter
of William White, son of Robt White Sr.

Bailey's related via the White's marriages into the Murphy line.

Robert & Jesse Boatman brothers of Elizabeth Boatman White, wife
of William White, son of Robt Sr.

James White the oldest son of William White.

J. W. Cooper JP - This may be James William Cooper Esqr., the
life long friend of Robert White Jr., son of Robert Sr., he would move
to Spartanburg, attend the same church as the White's and remain a
neighbor of Robt Jr., until his death.  His children would later move
with some of the White boys to GA and who knows from there...
Robert White Jr was married to JW Cooper's sister Mary Polly
[Cooper - Greer] White.

This is the last Deed in Union Co SC for our Robert White Sr., he was now in his 86 yrs old, by 1829, Wm White his son died this year, I believe Robt might have been living with him at this time, he moved to Spartanburg Co SC, to be with his son Robert White Jr and numerous grand children, Sr was in attendance at the Cedar Springs Baptist Church from 1829 to 1843 the year he died, which was recorded in the minutes of that church.  The Children and Grands scattered, and history took its course, some remained in the area.

Robert Sr's., Union Co Deed History ends here...
