NOTES:  There are several discrepancies when comparing to the Census Records of the Children:

1880 Chilton Co Census shows:   MARY L  age 9/12 (Nine months old) -  I believe this is MAMIE Cynthia Letcher?
1880 Chilton Co Census shows:   Francis D  age 8 yrs old.                         I believe this to be MINNIE F LETCHER?
1880 Chilton Co Census shows:   William E  age 3 yrs old.                         This Wm probably died young. Would have
                                                                                                                  been born abt. 1876/1877.
1900 Chilton Co Census shows:   Richard Letcher 26 yrs old b. 1874.        Was living next door to Uncle John J Letcher.
Is Steven (Stephen) Richard Letcher, or
                                                                                                                   Richard Stephen Letcher.

**All of Thomas Giles Letchers, children are written on the Winona Letcher Hunt Bible Record, most with birth dates.

**Will need to view the 1900/1910/1920 & 1930 for Thomas's children, to find his Grandchildren. We have a few.

**Be aware that the Census Takers used Middle Names as First Names and consistently made mistakes in spelling.

**Bible Records are not gospel either, by example, I find errors in entries quite frequently, another 'Beware'.
It is the combined sources that give us the ability to make our own judgments, which are always, subject-to-change!

BURIAL GROUND OF THOMAS AND BETHANY LETCHER:

Stephen Tolbert Letcher is buried in Dallas County, AL at Fellowship Church
Cemetery close to Plantersville, AL where my grandfather was born. Buried
beside him are Thomas Giles Letcher, my great grandfather, and Bethaney
Parker Letcher, my great grandmother. There a few other side lines of mine
buried there and some that I am surprised not to see that lived just about a
mile down the road as I remember. I helped my dad and uncle work in that
cemetery when I was about 8-10 years old. That info came from a book called
"Am I My Own Grandpa", put together by some Rush, Carter, and Horton
ladies that live there. I just talked to June Carter a week or two ago and she is
ready to publish another book. Stephen Tolbert's stone is shown as broken,
I do want to go and see about the stone.

Picture taken at Bill & Jennie Reedy's farm (1916/1920)
Left to Right:
Jennie, Louise, & Bethena Parker Letcher

Picture & Story by Bob Campbell

By Cousin Bob Campbell:

The is a picture that I got from a great grandson of Jennie L. Reedy. It was made between 1916 and 1920 is my guess, and appears to be at Jennie and Bill's farm outside of Plantersville, AL.

Standing on the left is Jennie L. Reedy at about 43 years old. Sitting in the Chinaberry tree is my grandmother, Louise Smith Letcher, wife of Clyde William Letcher at 16-20 years of age. Clyde and Louise were my grandparents, she was born in Atlanta in 1900 and was 15 when they got married there in 1916 the same year her parents died.

Standing on the right is no other than Bethena Parker Letcher, my great grandmother.

I was climbing in that same tree about 25-30 years later getting chinaberry's to shoot in my slingshot. The open field beyond there is where I helped dig sweet potatoes and peanuts, the potatoes went in a root cellar and the peanuts went in the loft of one of their barns to dry out. Later on there was a gate attached to that tree and the road ended there unless you went on the barnyard, at the other end of the road lived her oldest son, Morris Usher Reedy. He was a Forest Ranger and had one of the meanest roosters I have ever seen. I went to see him and Aunt Betty one day and that rooster jumped on me and pecked and spurred me from head to toe, I was a red bloody mess by the time Betty got out there and ran him off. Then came the old country cure all, a bottle of alcohol. By the time that rooster and Aunt Betty got through with me they could have caught me for reckless running.
End

COMMENT from Cousin Mike:

"I just wonder, if Cousin Bob's Sling Shot & those Chinaberry's had anything to do with that Rooster takin-after-him.."  :)   ha!
