NOTES: the Case for Sarah Ann Bobo White, probable daughter of Elias White;

From the 1830 census I have estimated Sarah's birth year as abt 1816, between the other two unknown children, of Elias, and her death about 1845, as on November 15, 1845, Jeremiah Bobo, was granted a letter of dismission from the Padgett's Creek Baptist Church in Cross Keys Union Co SC, obviously, in preparation, for his journey to Texas, normally, it is Husband & Wife, named in a letter of dismission, which leads me to believe, Sarah had died before Nov 15, 1845. Note also, they married 1841, her last child, James Bobo was born Dec 29, 1844. Her death may have been related to post child birth, however, she was still living in Feb 9, 1845, as Sarah releases her dower on a Deed transaction, with husband, Jeremiah. Vital records were not required in SC until after 1900.  Sarah passed away between Feb 9, 1844 and Nov 16, 1845.  It is also note worthy, that on Elias White's Estate Partition 1878, '2' Lots of Land were left to Jeremiah Bobo & heirs, all other children and heirs received '1' Lot of Land. I believe this supports the theory of Sarah Ann White Bobo, being the daughter of Elias White' 1 Lot for Sarah's heirs and, 1 Lot for Hester's heirs. My belief, my theory.  Elias's lands were part of the Ann Hale & JS Herring land surveys, is possible these heirs sold the lands, after the 1889 County House fire, that destroyed all the land records, and thus, may be record in the current Court House, of Bowie Co Land records, after 1889, that would indicate sales transactions of Elias's heirs.

Notes:
Jeremiah was Hester's & Sarah's? first cousin, and Elias White's Nephew, he
was the son of Solomon Jr. & Elizabeth (White) Bobo, Hester's aunt, sister to
Hester's father.  Three of Jeremiah's brothers also moved to Bowie Co TX.
Samuel D, Green, & Lewis Bobo
, it appears they moved with Elias's family in 1846.

Hester & Jeremiah were about 21 & 30 years old when Elias moved to Bowie Co, 1846.
I have not found an 1850 census with Jeremiah & Hester, either in Bowie or Cass Co, or
Union Co SC.  The 1860 Census for Jeremiah confirms his birth year, 1816.  One thing is
for sure, Jerry and Hester migrated to Bowie Co TX, together, with Hester's father, he
was with 2 young children, from his marriage to Sarah White, and Hester was single, they
married 1847, after arriving in Bowie Co.

Note:
This may not be our Hester White, but note worthy.
1850 Mortality Schedule Anderson Co TX: (Formed from Houston Co TX)

Anderson Co is bordered by: Houston Co, Cherokee Co, Henderson Co, Leon Co, Freestone Co TX.
Lewis Bobo, Jeremiah's brother was living in Houston Co TX just after 1850.

Note:  Do not confuse Houston Co TX with Houston Harris Co TX.

Theory of Jeremiah's Burial Site

Originated by:  Billy Watts         (Boney descendant)
Shared by: Lura Pittman Gerhart (Bobo descendant)

"If Jeremiah moved from Davis County to Bell County with Laura Jane, W. W. Trimble, and John Lewis before the 1870 census and died in 1868, in Bell County, there may never be a grave site located. Aiken, Bell County Texas was flooded in the 1950's, when the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers developed Lake Belton. Where a lot of grave sites were located, and were moved to Moffat Cemetery in Bell County. There is the possibility that since the Bobo's and Trimble's used the Aiken Post office, in the 1870's, Jeremiah's grave may have been poorly marked or never relocated, prior to the flooding."

My great great grandmother is Laura Jane Bobo, a daughter of [we think]
Sarah White, a sister of Hester White who married Jeremiah Bobo. We
think Jeremiah was also married to Sarah White and wonder if Hester had
a sister Sarah.

Laura Jane Bobo married William Wallace Trimble.

Their daughter, Mary Ellen Trimble, married James Solomon Moore.

Their daughter, Charlie Cordelia Moore, married Nathan Ernest Wilkins

Their daughter. Gladys Wilkins married Joseph Lawrence Drake.

I am their daughter Norma Beth Drake Williamson

Jeremiah Bobo also had a son named John Lewis. He is the youngest
child. My ancestor is his daughter Laura Jane Bobo b. SC in 1843. [maybe Laura
Jane's mother died in childbirth?] Laura Jane Bobo married William
Wallace Trimble. In 1860 Laura Jane, William Wallas Trimble, and little
brother John Lewis are living in Bell Co., Texas. John Lewis' family
said Jeremiah went to Bell Co. and he does not show up in any census
after 1860. Abigail outlived him and is back with her family in Cass
[Called Davis Co then] in 1870. Some of the Cass County people think
Hester was the mother of all Jeremiah's children.

Records sent to me by Robert G Bobo show Jeremiah place of birth as New Prospect Union SC
Census: 1860 listed as Storekeeper in Unionville Cass Co TX
Other sources give 26 Dec 1816 as birth date - also Nov 16 1816
Occupation: Storekeeper

From Beth Williamson

John Lewis Bobo is most probably the brother of Laura Jane Bobo. He is
the J. L. Bobo living with Jeremiah and Abigail in the 1860 census. In
the 1870 census he is living with Laura Jane Bobo Trimble and her
husband William Wallace Trimble.
I have considerable information about his marriage and descendants. In
his obituary, it says he came with his father and his sister to Bell
County [obviously sometime after 1860. William Wallace Trimble joined
the Confederate Army in Cass Co in 1862 so I imagine that is when
Jeremiah and Laura and John Lewis went to Bell County.
In the 1870 census, Abigail Bobo is back with her family, so I assume
Jeremiah died, probably in Bell County. I haven't found a Jeremiah Bobo
anywhere after 1860.

According to the Mormon records, Jeremiah married Sarah White on 28 Oct
1841.

He married Hester White on 20 Apr 1847. He married Abigail Hancock on 17
Feb 1857.

Daughter Laura Jane Bobo married William Wallace Trimble.
Meanwhile, William Wallace Trimble's sister Caroline married Henry W.
Boney.

This marriage was back in St. Francis Co. AR. They had a daughter,
Sarah Ann Francis Boney, who married John Lewis Bobo 22 Sept 1870. Henry
Boney was killed in the Civil War. Caroline and her family are living
near the Trimbles in the 1870 census.
I know that several of the Cass County people think Hester is the mother
of all Jeremiah's children, but we have 1843 for the birth of Laura
Jane.I thought for a long time she was born in Texas, but now I doubt
it. I did not find Jeremiah getting any land in the republic of Texas.

Some of Jeremiah's brothers are in the list of poll tax payers in the
Republic of Texas in 1845, but Jeremiah is not.

Jeremiah Bobo died 1868 - Cusseta Lodge No. 192 Davis Co TX -- J. Bobo

Note: His entry says Davis Co TX, Cass Co TX was changed to Davis Co from
1861 to 1871, they changed back to Cass Co TX, after 1871, Jerry died 1868.
The question remains, did he die in Bell or Cass? this only says he was a
member of the Lodge in Davis/Cass, he still could have died in Bell Co.

South Carolina Huguenot Society

Proven connection between Jeremiah Bobo
and his oldest known Ancestor
Gabriel Baubeau of France

Membership Confirmationi Provided by:  Janet

Email from Descendant & Applicant Janet:  Dec 22, 2018

Today, I received notification that I am accepted into the Huguenot Society of South Carolina.  I’m so very excited!  The application process was extensive and involved my providing Birth/Marriage/Death/Headstone/Census/Military/etc. records of 20 ancestors, including my parents, etc. as well as a 12 page application that had to be notarized.

One of the benefits of my applying through this society is that this organization provides (to applicants) any ‘proof’ that the organization already has to help simplify the application process.  So, I didn’t have to totally start from ‘scratch.’  Still, the process is complicated and goes back to Gabriel Baubeau in France.
